Coaching Methodology: What a coaching session looks like
Coaching sessions take place online or in-person. In contrast to mentoring, advising and supervision, coaching is client-centered and each session opens exploring what the client seeks to accomplish in their 50-minute session and what session outcomes would look like. An NYU-trained coach, I use coaching methodologies approved by the International Coaching Federation (ICF) supporting artists in the ideation of their goals and ways forward. The Coach opens the session and confirms what the artist wants to accomplish in session and how the artist defines measures of success.
Coach and Client explore the client reality (raising awareness of the situation)
Coach and Client Explore Options and Possibilities
Reflect back Client’s expressed possibilities from which to choose
Coach and Client identify ways forward.
